Access to campus Internet systems and intranet systems (inter-university systems) depends on:
The system you are trying to connect to: There are different identification methods for different systems at the university.
Your status: Availablity of different applications may depend whether you are a student, guest, researcher or on the administrative staff.
Your Location: Are you on campus or off campus.
Your connections type: Are you using a wired or Wi-FI conection.
Wired connections
Staff and conference room computers are connected to the network using a wired connection.
Public stations in the different computing centers, computer labs and public spaces of the University are also connected via wired connections.
In addition, there are various communication ports in the campus dormitories where it is possible to connect to the internet using a communications cable and password.
The University provides WI-FI throughout its campuses and dormitories for the use of students, staff and guests. Researchers, staff and students may connect to the Internet via wireless connection when visiting participating institutions, using their HUJI accounts.
Faculty and students in joint programs with leading academic institutions around the world can use the same approach as the Hebrew University (RA account) to access a wireless network in other universities around the world.
VPN connections allow for the secure connection to University services according to each user's privileges. Services provided include access to Academic Journals and databases, and remote access to desktop computers.
Our website includes detailed instructions and guides as how to obtain accounts and passwords in order to receive the desired services.
All university staff and sturdents can access e-Journals from campus and from home.
e-Journals can be accessed in the following ways:
Wired connections
2. Wireless connections
University e-Journals may be accessed using Samba VPN . This requires a RA account.
Please note certain databases can be accessed from on campus only.
VPN services enable staff and students remote access to the Univerisity's academic resources, such as: e-journals, libraries' databases etc.
Access via Samba requires a RA account. If further detail see remote access.
It is possible to connect to the University resources with authentication only, without installing an application, but for regular use and ease of access to all the databases it is advised to install the program.
Samba uses a program from Cisco called Cisco Any Connect. Once connected via this program, it is possible to access databases contracted for use within the Univerisity.
Instructions for downloading and use.
Web-VPN - enables browsing to sites that require RA authentication using the site:
Important Notice: Web-VPN is an unstable service that does not always function as expected, for this reason we recommend the VPN-client for regular usage.
VPN-client - is an installed connection program that enables access to the University network. Through the client, users may access University databases and journals. Authentication using an OTP card provides extended services, including Remote Desktop, FTP and telnet.
Connecting to Samba Windows 7,10

The university has many access points that allow access to three main wireless networks:
Supported services
Login guides
The university constantly invests and expands access points. Today most of the public areas are networked, including many classrooms and halls;
The university and faculties prioritize the degree of investment in the demand, teaching and research needs, as well as the constraints resulting from one physical structure or another, and therefore there are points that are not covered or where the bandwidth is low. You can always contact us to clarify or raise the need for wireless access, specify exactly where you encountered a difficulty and we will be happy to provide a response if possible/ in the planning or what can be done to promote the project.
The wireless network identifies itself as two separate networks (HUJI-guest/eduroam and in Mount Scopus dormitories HUJI-dorm), which allow different service levels:
