Samba VPN
What is the Samba-VPN service?
VPN services enable staff and students remote access to the Univerisity's academic resources, such as: e-journals, libraries' databases etc.
Access via Samba requires a RA account. If further detail see remote access.
It is possible to connect to the University resources with authentication only, without installing an application, but for regular use and ease of access to all the databases it is advised to install the program.
Use of the Connection Application for Samba
Samba uses a program from Cisco called Cisco Any Connect. Once connected via this program, it is possible to access databases contracted for use within the Univerisity.

Important Notice: Web-VPN is an unstable service that does not always function as expected, for this reason we recommend the VPN-client for regular usage.

Downloading and Installing
VPN-client - is an installed connection program that enables access to the University network. Through the client, users may access University databases and journals. Authentication using an OTP card provides extended services, including Remote Desktop, FTP and telnet.
- Download: Use this link to download https://samba.huji.ac.il/download. In order to download you will need to authenticate using your RA account.
- System Requirements
- Windows 7, 8, 10 32 and 64 bit
- Mac OS X version 10.7 and later using Intel architecture
- Linux x86-64: Ubuntu,SuSE,Slackware,RedHat, Fedora versions are supported.
- Android- System 4 and above
- IOS- 4.1 and above. For iPad 4.2 and above.

- Download Cisco AnyConnect from the AppStore.
- Run Cisco AnyConnect.
- Enter the server name - samba.huji.ac.il, in the "Connect to" field.
- Press "Select".
- Enter the Username (in the form of "username%ra") in the Username field, and the password in the "Password" field.
- Press Connect.
Android
- Download Cisco AnyConnect from Google Play.
- For Samsung Knox use only Cisco AnyConnect Samsung
- Run Cisco AnyConnect
- Enter the server name - samba.huji.ac.il, in the "Connect to" field.
- Press "Select".
- Enter the Username (in the form of "username%ra") in the Username field, and the password in the "Password" field.
- Press Connect.
Connecting to SAMBA WebVPN
Notes:
- The use of WebVPN requires an RA account. If you have not opened an account go to https://so.cc.huji.ac.il/rap/.
- CS users don't need to register, but need to use their OTP password.
Step 1
In your browser you will need to type the address: https://samba.huji.ac.il/webvpn.
Step 2
- Username - Enter your username from your RA account: user%ra.
- Password - Enter you RA password or OTP password.
- Click Login.
Note to CS users:
For Username enter user:otp%tcs and for Password enter your OTP code.
Step 3
- You have entered the Samba VPN portal.
- Press on different links to begin surfing, or to enter a particular internet address, press on the following icon.
Step 4
- The window below will open. Enter the desired address and press ok.
- Note: You can enter a different address by pressing the same icon.
Step 5
- At the end of your session press the red stop icon.
Step 6
- Press OK to confirm your exit from the system.
Step 7
You will receive the following message. If you wish to reenter the system click Logon.
